Our Military Kids® empowers children, boosts their morale, and helps them cope with the challenges of military life by providing support for extracurricular activities they otherwise might not be able to afford.
Our Military Kids - Pacific Northwest
Founded in 2004, Our Military Kids (OMK) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing grants for extracurricular activities and tutoring to children of deployed National Guard and Reserve service members, as well as children of wounded Veterans from all branches of the military. Their mission is simple yet profound: to empower these children, boost their morale, and help them cope with the challenges of military life.
One of the most remarkable aspects of OMK is its focus on the individual needs and interests of each child. Through their grants program, children can participate in a wide range of activities, from sports and arts to academic programs and tutoring. Whether it is soccer practice, music lessons, or coding classes, these activities serve as more than just distractions – they’re avenues for growth, development, and self-expression. Through these shared activities and events, children can form friendships with others who understand the unique challenges they face. This sense of camaraderie extends to the parents, creating a network of support that plays a crucial role in navigating the complexities of military life.
But the support doesn’t stop there. OMK also recognizes the importance of parental involvement and offers resources and guidance to military families navigating the complexities of deployment and reintegration. By fostering a sense of community and solidarity, they create a network of support that extends far beyond financial assistance.
When our veterans serve, their entire family sacrifices, and often children are impacted the most. Recognizing a need to grow their programs in the Pacific Northwest, the JTMF Foundation is proud to partner with Our Military Kids to support military youth.
